( Personality ) :
Latula is the kind of character you can make your first judgment on right off the hook. Her entrance comes with a pretty impressive jump on her skateboard, immediately giving out the image of a pretty stylish and radical skateboarder, calling immediate attention from whoever she’s reaching for.
As we start talking with her, we see ourselves facing someone who’s really cheerful and upbeat, and probably loud too, always with a smile stamped in her face. She has a very unique style, wearing a bodysuit (that actually matches with the one that her matesprite, Mituna Captor, has), red shades and having long black hair, giving the idea of a good looking teenager. Even the way she speaks, such as adding z’s in the end of some words and the exaggerated use of exclamation and question marks, shows what a young spirited troll we’re talking with.
She loves to give high fives, sometimes even demanding to give them for very little things. Even after dying, she doesn’t seem to have stopped this habit. Sometimes these high fives are so strong that they hurt people. Another habit she has is giving multiple nicknames to someone, just like she calls Meenah payday, paycheck, paymoney, paystubz, and much more.
Although she gives the image of being a ditz and dumb, she is, in fact, really smart, and one of the times that can be noticed the most is when she explains to Meenah one of the 4s she used in the sentence “4-l1f3 4LYF3” was actually supposed to be read as a “for”, saying it works as the “homonym for the preposition and stuff”.
Whether Latula has problems with someone or not, she can tell when one has class (or in her case, radness, which works as a diminutive for “radicalness”, supposedly) and gives credits for that. She enjoys having someone around who can keep up with her, especially in skateboarding and gaming. For example, she tells Meenah she’s happy to see her back, even when they had their “issues”, saying such things as she couldn’t tow the entire rad load by herself. She even claims herself to be the most legit powergaming girl and names everyone else as posers, except Meenah.
This last part shows that Latula is also proud and really cocky about her skills. She loves making people notice her wicked stunts on her skateboard, and even in afterlife she kept practicing and invented more crazy performances, proudly showing the hand plant she has been perfecting to Meenah when she arrives the dream bubble.
There are times we can sense irony in her speech as well. She doesn’t hesitate to taunt and tease Meenah about how wicked her “rad suicide bomb plan” was, which was the bomb that killed their entire group. She even mentions how the God Tiers (such as Meenah) weren’t able to revive and how perfectly timed that was, erasing their entire existence. She even mentions how she couldn’t “smell” it coming, when Latula can’t, in fact, smell. However, right after that, she asks for another high five, probably running away from continuing to talk about the subject.
If there’s one thing Latula fails is to be up to date with, it's what’s going on around her. She fails to understand when Meenah tries to recruit her in her army to beat Lord English, only understanding what she meant when she talked about the crack in the sky, which obviously couldn’t go unnoticed. She isn’t as well aware of what her post-scratch self, Redglare, did while she was alive.
Even though Latula is very proud about what she can do, she knows her limits and isn't stupid enough to do anything reckless and that she knows she can’t handle. Unsurprisingly, she let Meenah down when she tried to recruit her, saying she didn’t do any fighting for a while. The afterlife seemed to have given her access to a more relaxed and chilled “life” than before, giving her enough time to focus on her skateboarding. She does feel bad for letting down the other troll, though.
Another subject that is important to mention is her relationship with Mituna. These two have been dating for as long as anyone can remember, and even when Mituna saved everyone and although he currently suffers from brain damage, Latula hasn't left his side and they continue being fully flushed. Mituna’s view on their relationship is unknown, but Latula shows she cares for him, even after dying, claiming there’s more of him than all the terrible things he says and that she feels like he needs her. It’s also unknown how traumatic Mituna’s sacrifice was for Latula, but she’s protective of him, to the point of threatening to kill Damara if she dared to touch him
Not only is this teal blood troll cocky about her stunts, but she likes to show she is proud of who she is (or so it seems). She knows she’s good – she has good looks, knows how to skate and is a gamer girl. Dang, who wouldn’t want to be her? She is the raddest thing there is, and if there’s one thing she likes, it's to get people’s attention and make them acknowledge how great she is. But hey! Guess what! This gamer girl isn’t, maybe, that special at all. This is the part where we start talking more about who Latula really is.
After dying and even before that, Latula makes it clear she grew as a person. She used to see Meenah as a competitor and spent all the time thinking she was the one winning, believing there couldn’t be two girls like themselves in the group. However, this flow of thought and so many others, like how she says she could totally see the outcome of her and Aranea’s next lives and descendants coming out as enemies, seems to make perfect sense to her but it doesn’t make to others. To this she responds “I knew I could count on you to be justifiably cynical about my neurotic bullshit” and “it just does”.
Now, for those who research about neuroticism, we can understand this word is really strong and has a big impact on how Latula may actually be behind her radgirl persona. For those who aren’t familiar with it, neuroticism relates to the concept of locus of control, self-efficacy and self-esteem, and is usually manifested as a personality trait, having such characteristics as anxiety, anger, envy, guilt and depressed moods. Latula tells Porrim she stresses out when she forgets to add z’s to some words, even mentioning that happens more often when she runs out of meds, and one of the symptoms of neuroticism is poor response to environmental stress, which lends further support to the theory.
These meds might be the actual reason why she can keep up her front. The rad gamer girl deal she keeps talking about? It’s all an act, and it seems a very limited amount of people know Latula isn’t all about that, like Porrim, who asks her to stop overdoing it. Latula admits she likes laying off with her, but it doesn’t change the fact that she still needs to be reminded of who she’s speaking with so she will stop her act. In fact, this only proves that Latula is so used to acting that it takes over her life and who she really is. She knows she has problems, but she neglects the speaking part, avoiding subjects she doesn’t feel alright talking about. The only image she feels okay to give to other people is of a perfect girl without any problems and a girl who is simply the best at everything she does.
She seems to be really aware about how karma works and, as said before, she sees things that don’t make sense to others make sense to her. This is also thanks for her being a mind player. It is not known yet how this aspect fully works, especially with a knight title.
Although Latula belongs to a higher caste in the hemospectrum, she seems to have never used much of these privileges. She was not even culled (on Beforus, meaning being selected by a member of a higher caste for adoption, and coddled excessively). Kankri mentions how she’s not worried about improving lower class and doesn’t look down on anyone, and how she always shows kindness without letting the other party feel helpless or tragic about it. Kankri, a character that is hardly pleased, just keeps praising her, and while Latula agrees with most of what he says when he keeps saying how he wouldn’t be able to notice certain aspects about her if they left themselves enroll into a romantic relationship, Latula seems to show some kind of discomfort and embarrassment, being completely speechless at the end of their conversation.
Of course, it’s an important thing to mention Latula and Kankri’s relationship. Similar to Terezi and Karkat, Latula and Kankri have complicated unrequited romantic feelings for each other, but obviously, both of them deny it. This is clearly evidenced and even Aranea says it’s no secret to anyone.
Kankri has his vow of celibacy and Latula moved on and started dating Mituna, and while she shows great concern and loyalty towards him, her reaction to Kankri’s compliments show she hasn’t forgotten about her feelings for him, even after possible eons. Needless to say, they are close to each other, but their current situations make it impossible for them to be together, and neither of them show signs of wanting things to change. They’ll just keep awkward for as long as we’ll ever know.
But one thing is for sure - as much as Latula seems to be the kind of enthusiastic girl who doesn’t want to be seen as anything other than rad, she actually feels bad about things. She is a person of two sides and even when all she is simply an act, she is actually someone strong and that is yet learning who she really is and to accept herself.
( Strengths/Weaknesses ) :
+ A great skateboarder. Probably good at other kind of radical sports too.
+ Also an awesome gamer
+ Good at not being herself and subtly running away from subjects she doesn't want to talk about.
+ Since she lost her sense of smell, she learned "new ways to smell" with her eyes and ears.
- She can't smell, and probably can't taste either.
- Doesn't do much fighting since she died. She even says she's "rusty".
- Lack of her meds. If she runs out of them she becomes stressed.
- Probably is not good at reacting easily under pressure.

[Suddenly the video feed turns on, revealing Latula running to somewhere far off from the communicator. She finally stops, stretching her arms high and then throwing her skateboard to the floor, gaining speeding and hop[ing on it with perfect balance.
Again, she jumps while making her skateboard do a 320º spin flip, and successfully lands on it. Later, all she does is leap on buildings and do super wicked performances that it's hard to believe were ever possible.
Finally, she gets back to the SFC, grabbing it with a proud grin, sliding her shades to the front of her horns, revealing her teal colored eyes.]
So, was I good or was I good? [Wink.]
